NEWS & REMINDERS…

  • SAT Day is this Wednesday, 3/27. There will be a modified schedule for SAT day and all students will receive individualized schedules today in advisory.
  • Want to be an iSchool Tour Guide? We are searching for confident, enthusiastic, and personable iSchool students to help give School Tours this Spring and in the Fall. If you truly love the iSchool and want to share that appreciation with prospective students and families please attend a MANDATORY informational meeting on Monday, April 1st at 3:25 p.m. in Room 413 (the science lab). If you have any questions please see Ms. Leimsider or Ms. Colón.
  • With the end of the quarter happening next week, we have a lot of events coming up! All of these events are open to the public and we’d love to see you all there!
    • Hamlet Performance – Friday, March 29th at 5:30 pm in the fifth floor commons.
    • Band Performance – Monday, April 1st at 5 pm in the fifth floor commons. Come see our Jazz Band, Rock Bands, and Bash the Trash Ensemble perform!
    • Hamlet Performance – Tuesday, April 2nd at 5:30 pm in the fifth floor commons.
    • Speak THIS! Presentations – Wednesday, April 3rd and Thursday, April 4th from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. in the fifth-floor commons. Come see students in the Speak THIS! module deliver 7-8 minute presentations where they tell their stories.
  • Student-Led Conferences will be taking place from Monday, April 29th – Friday, May 3rd.  Advisors will be reaching out to families in the next couple of weeks to schedule these conferences. Please note that 3rd quarter Report Cards will be distributed at student-led conferences.
  • PARENTS – Learning Environment Survey:  As mentioned in the last iNotes, parents have two ways to complete their survey. Parents can complete the survey online or via paper. Paper surveys were sent home with students last Friday, March 8thAll surveys must be completed by Wednesday, April 3, 2019.
    • Last year, 45% of parents completed the Learning Environment Survey. This year we are setting a completion goal of 55% for parents. We hope that you will help us achieve this goal!

  • AP Exam update: Please see the schedule below for the 2019 AP Exam dates. As was stated in the contract that all students taking an AP course signed, all iSchool students currently enrolled in an AP course are expected to sit for the AP exam. We will be collecting fees for AP exams in classes starting this week. Students should bring a check made out to “NYC iSchool” or cash for $79 for each exam. Students and families are required to familiarize themselves with the AP Bulletin for Students and Families. Students who are approved for a reduced fee will be notified by email. Questions should be directed to Ms. Baracaldo at ebaracaldo@nycischool.org.

  • JUNIORS: The NYC Department of Education has partnered with the College Board and will be paying for an in-school March 27th SAT for those students who want to take it. We will be sending out more detailed information about this to our juniors who are preparing for the SAT exam as we get closer to the test date.

  • Office Hours begin immediately after the regular school day and go until 4:00 pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Office Hours serve as a great resource for students with questions or comments for teachers, or for students in need of tutoring. In some cases students may be mandated to stay during this time. We encourage all students to take advantage of this valuable resource.
